to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

Aeneas Wilder - Untitled#143

On a cloudy and very windy summer's day we visit the wooden dome sculpture.

Impressive in size, copying the circular architecture of nearby Grand Hotel Bellevue.

Once inside the half-open structure alters the sounds of the exterior.

The moment we decide to leave the sculpture we get a fabulous bonus. Untitled#143 wakes up with the sun breaking through the clouds. Magic happens. Other players join the scene, light and shadow bring life into the dome.

Just can't get enough of this (I'm a shadow addict)

Part of the artwork is that it will be destroyed by the artist "A new creation thus begins because of the destruction".
Aeneas Wilder (UK) explaining his work in this video (at the end at approx. 3.25)

Robert Kusmirowski at Beaufort03

Robert Kusmirowski (Poland) is a master in creating illusions. Even on very close inspection it is hard to believe this house is only a fake. His 'historic' installations are very accurate replicas built in various 'soft' materials. In this case the façade is based on Polish house fronts.

The city council was not happy with this art installation as it looked too real; it would keep tourists away if they assumed this was the general state of the houses throughout the city. A sign was put up next to the work to keep the viewer informed this is art.

I loved this detail, nettles (they are real) on the window-sill. I wonder who gives them water.

Tim Segers - Youtheater.net

"This Spring the first amphitheater of youtheater opens on the Belgium coast in the city of Nieuwpoort, during the art trienalls Beaufort03. Youtheater is a network of integrated public amphitheater, a conceptual form of the original platform, foreseen with free electricity and video stream communication. In a nutshell all you need to make a public interventions from speeches to acts or a full live concert."

The idea of this sculpture is that people visiting it can make live videos that will be posted on the site of youtheater.net. The videos can be downloaded to be used on other sites.

On a closer look I was very disappointed to see that the installation wasn't properly fixed and was breaking in various places after only 4 months, it still needed to last 2 more.

The button to start recording the video did not seem to work. And later, when checking the site, I discovered that the thing was broken for 2 months already. Now we're 2 months later and nothing has been fixed.

Still, the sculpture comes in handy to dry wet clothes and collect lost and found objects.

If travel is searching and home what's been found

9 concrete sculptures placed between existing elements. Valérie Mannaerts confuses the public, the sculptures have to be discovered between other signs and questions : what is art and what is not?
