Yesterday I picked up a knitting project I started and abandonned over a year ago.  Not happy where it was leading to I decided to change the final goal... not revealing anything yet, it will take a long time to get there.

Looking to make a post related to my current occupation I found these pictures taken during last summer (2011).

Elodie Antoine - playful textiles

Les Fêtes de la Saint-Martin at Tourinnes-la-Grosse is a fun art tour.  Farmhouses, stables, barns, small village houses, derelict garages ... invite artists during the weekends of November. 

First, there is a small group of selected artists for the exhibition of contemporary art.  Second, dozens of other artists open their studios or exhibit in their friends' houses.

One can tell by the number of pictures taken I liked this installation, looks like a golden virus is taking over the building.  By coincidence, a nasty flu got me a few days later.

Krijn Giezen - resourceful artist

Temperatures are dropping outside, first frost is predicted the coming night.  Preparing our home for the coming winter blankets are released from chests, patchworks I made from skirts, blouses and odd pieces of fabric regain their place on the seats.

When I saw the patchworks made by Krijn Giezen I gasped for air, these stunning pieces literally took my breath away.  He made them end 1950'. 

Can't keep my eyes from this one, I'd love it on my wall if only I had a wall large enough...

cool gardens

Autumn is making up for the cold summer, we've got tropical temperatures these last days and are enjoying it.  Getting some ideas to make cool spots in the garden using fabrics and textiles...

abstract & homemade

The announcement of a homemade bazaar in the space of Croxhapox caught my attention.  The focus was on artists who strive uniqueness in creating "slow made" items.

I must admit I was somehow disappointed in the small scale of the event, but I'm glad I saw the following. 

I was attracted to the work of one artist and one designer.

Katleen Deleu had a wall covered in her small studies for future larger works.  I simply loved the delicate collages of notebook papers.  It reminds me of shadow play , the patterns of shadows always capture my attention.

So we left the homemade bazaar leaving a blank spot on the wall.

More abstract patterns appeared...

Great colours...

Every item is unique and finished to perfection. A model will never be produced in the same colour twice.  The weaving in the lower bag are very narrow strips of leather woven with metal.
