Things were very quiet in the studio the past months, with reason.
Changes in my personal life and around me needed my attention. When I'm working in my studio I tend to forget the outside world and the outside world was knocking on my door for attention. So I decided to close the studio door for some time and work on the changes around me and at the same time make room for them in my mind. Accepting new situations that more or less have a drastic impact on one's personal life take time.
But ... with the spring ... my studio is calling (and so is the garden). And I start to feel the need to work again. So, it might take some time to get everything on track again, but the engine is warming up for new challenges. A few projects lie ahead, time to focus on that.
Being non-active these past few months means I'm skipping my participation in the open studio tour Kunstroute-Leuven this year, that means I will be able to visit the ones I've never visited before. The next days I'll be posting pictures of previous visits to studios I haven't published before. In the meantime pay a visit to the studios of the previous years by clicking HERE.
And discover new participants on this site. http://www.kunstroute-leuven.be/
to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

Untitled - Monos Gallery
It is the first time I visit this gallery, totally hidden in a quiet street in Liège-Belgium. I must admit I was so impressed by the gallery itself and the different exhibition spaces on two levels I actually forgot to register the artists' names; 13 in this exhibition. I found a few on the internet. If anyone can help me to put the right name under the works ...
Next to the man-made artworks, the sun creates a delicate pattern on a window, just as interesting.

Calatrava's trainstation
In Liège-Belgium to see an exhibition, we decide to stop by and see one of Calatrava's latest projects, Liège-Guillemins TGV-station. The inauguration took place a few months ago, but here and there a few details need to be finished.. The weather is just dreadful, but the structure is overwhelming, I definitely want to see this again on a sunny day.

We got there just in time to see this one, it was the last day of the exhibition at the Maison de la Culture Famenne-Ardenne. Quite a drive to the south part of our little country, meaning the artworks are primarily - if not all - in french. Don't have pictures of all the artists works.

...and here is how we actually got here. We saw the following as a 'work in progress' in the artist's studio in Germany a short while ago and were curious to see the final result, it is the front column with the gap in the center, hard to see in the picture ... the gap.

Swedish craftsmen/women
Only a few steps from the Form/Design Center in Malmö (previous post) is the lovely shop/gallery Formargruppen Butik & Galleri where Swedish craftsmen and -women sell and exhibit their arts and crafts.
In the gallery space an exhibition with work from David Carlsson I found quite intriguing.

The shop is in the other part of the room, filled with locally designed and crafted items from various artists. Jewelry, wood, metalwork, felt, ceramics, glass and more.
This one reminds me so much of an artist from New Mexico I met quite some years ago. Will do a post on that later.
Most of my pictures did not turn out well, but the shop has its own Flickrpages and site where all information on various artists can be found.
