to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

Benoît Decque - The Pink Room

When walking through the park to discover the colourfull sculptures at Couleur(s)³, I was very intrigued by this installation. I already loved the shape of it ... but where was the colour - the theme of the exhibition?

La Chambre Rose
"A rough stone stands as a rebel in the middle of a park where there is only refinement and sophistication! The Pink Room precisely organizes itself around this monolith, it invites the visitor to share its "intimacy" : being in contact with so much roughness will here become a true experience!"

When leaving the Pink Room the grass seemed an unatural green, it can't be captured by the camera.

I definitely love this installation.
But I'm not happy with the way the pink shows on the camera, in reality it is much brighter ...

... so I decide to set my camera on its darkest mode and there it shows how bright the pink is, it really lights up.

Can't get enough of it. One more...

Claire Forgeot - Clearing

Clairière

"Like after the woodcutter has come, stumps of cut trees, a clearing full of light. The colours assert themselves and impose. But the mirrors, incapable of certainties, slip away, catching the time that passes."

... playful

... funny

... cheerful

... I would love some in my garden.

Edith Meusnier - Parade

"The vivid colours of the ribbons knock together and confront each other before melting like magic into a diaphanous net. Traps or offerings, these empty envelopes play with shade and light in order to question our expectations better."

Christophe Dalecki - Circulation verte

"The exploration of the relationships nature/culture is the center and the driving force of my work. Imitating nature, more precisely plants, with its opposite, plastic and objets from our industries is a way to question these relationships. The colour is that of the plants; however, the salad is bitter..."

Charlotte Marchal at Couleur(s)³

Les croix de St-André

"The cross has been one of the attested symbols since high antiquity. It is the third of the four fundamental symbols : the centre, the circle and the squares. It symbolizes the earth. It links heaven and earth. The aim is to create a dialogue between landscape and sculpture. An appropriateness, a punctuation, a second reading, an intervention which wants to be discreet but nevertheless present. The cross brings us back to mankind."

Léopoldine Roux - Mister Iceberg

" The idea of the Iceberg revealed itself as being obvious. I dreamt them majestic dancing on a tuneful music. Gainsbourg sang it before me, Mister Iceberg. Whatever it is, an abstract painting or a concrete sculpture, it was born from vacuum and variety. It is a hymn to nature, to freedom, to trade winds and to colours."

Léon Wuidar - Boutisses

"A few cubes echoing the headers ("boutisses") in the walls of the castle in the background , it is obvious. And also forms from the childhood bag ("baluchon") where I cannot help drawing my inspiration. As far as the walker is concerned, let him have the pleasure to find meaning that he wants, that he can. Let him deny himself nothing."
"Boutisse" : Walloon word to refer to bricks or stones with the width on the front.
"Baluchon" : Small square of fabric knotted at the four ends containing someone's belongings.

Hervé Pechoux - Vanity

Vanité

"A codified form such as the igloo tent allows a direct translation of the nomad feeling, as counterpoint to a castle. This architecture is close to a sculpture beginning from the bottom, metaphor of a pedestal without end : a column. When they are "coupled", these tents look like sand glasses, recalling the time that passes and the ephemeral character of life in the manner of a futility."

François Huon - Quarantaine (en)

"The work closes a territory centered by a pedestal, which instead of presenting a decorative vase, evokes the closed vase, preventing any communication. The twenty sleeping split squares lie flat on the pillar, with the same drawings as the fences : open, erected and watchful squares."
