to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

Ron van der Ende - endless patience

I'm not particularely a car fan.  I'm the sort of person who'll say ... it was a low blue car.  Will recognize maybe five models that stand out like the gorgeous DS Citroën or the Deux Chevaux.  When I met my later husband and was driving his car for some time, I didn't even know what brand it was when someone asked me!
But I couldn't stop looking at this : Phoenix: Rise I (Pontiac Firebird Trans Am) - 2011 - Bas Relief by Ron van der Ende.

come and have a closer look...

The tiniest pieces of salvaged wood have a perfect fit.

can't keep my eyes from it.

Matthew Day Jackson

Road maps, city maps, country maps ... my mind starts to travel whenever I see one.  I love looking at maps, could do it for hours ...
This fact combined with wood; no wonder I was lovestruck when I saw this.

Only part of a larger work at Art Brussels.
This is stunning, intriguing, fascinating ... I was hooked even before I saw the title of this work.  Knowing what it was about made it even more breathtaking. (for the record, this is not me in the picture)

more wood and twigs on art fairs

Is it a recent trend in art or do I spot these everywhere because I like wood?

portraits in wood

The wooden sculptures by artist Anja Weinberg in yesterday's post remind me of another wood sculptor we saw at the Art Brussels Fair last year.

Kawamata in miniature

My mind is still on wood and digging in the archives of unpublished pictures I found these taken at the Art Brussels Fair last year.

Le Gun studios

Le Gun - The Unknown Room - mixed media, size 25 m²

A stunning space at the Brussels Art Fair last spring (I know, I'm somewhat late in posting this).  I do love bright and bold colours, I do love soft natural tones and I do love this world in black and white.

A collective of artists called Le Gun...

... built a room to present their black and white drawings.

It is like stepping into one of the drawings and become a part of the work itself.

I spent quite some time looking at all the details.

mmm... can't get enough of it.

I was quite surprised by the chair in the corner, it looks very similar to a chair I made three years ago.
