to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

Kelly Schacht fell down the Rabbit Hole

COUP DE VILLE

Contemporary art in private houses, gardens, museums and public space.
More than 40 international artists on more than 25 locations.

I don't know where to start, but this seems like an appropriate beginning of an enchanting tour.

The tour takes us through the city of Sint-Niklaas in Belgium, which by the way has the largest market square of the country.  We enter grand old houses, empty factories, an abandoned schoolhouse, a beauty salon, a restaurant, a studio in a backyard ... and back a alley leading towards garage boxes with a hidden secret.

One of these garages hides a door leading to a wonderful garden hidden from any one's sight.

This unknown and hidden passage between two different worlds made artist Kelly Schacht (BE) think of 'Alice in Wonderland'.

Going down the Rabbit Hole

I love it!!
We've seen great things and are definitely going back to see the other half of the tour.

Vent des Forêts - hidden art

Along a small trail in the dense forest we find the surprising work of Lorentino  "cherchez cachée" meaning something like "look for hidden".  And indeed it is not obvious to spot this from a distance between the trees.

We saw this work the second day of our long forest walk and it is part of another we spotted the first day quite some distance from this one.

Le Vent des Forêts - Wind in the Forest

In July, six villages in the forest - in the Meuse region (France) - invite international artists to take a different look at nature and create works displayed along a 45- kilometre footpath through 5.000 hectares of forest. About 90 from the 165 works made since 1997 are still on the site.  Accessible every year from February until late September.

artartartartart - à propos d'écritures

à propos d'écritures
could be translated as about writing
We got there just in time to see this one, it was the last day of the exhibition at the Maison de la Culture Famenne-Ardenne.  Quite a drive to the south part of our little country, meaning the artworks are primarily - if not all - in french.  Don't have pictures of all the artists works.

...and here is how we actually got here.  We saw the following as a 'work in progress' in the artist's studio in Germany a short while ago and were curious to see the final result, it is the front column with the gap in the center, hard to see in the picture ... the gap.

letters and words

Just a few snapshots from this day

Irish literature with a view

The Guinness Storehouse, a place worth visiting. Located in the heart of the St. James's Gate Brewery, the Guinness Storehouse is a 7 storey visitor experience.

The Gravity Bar at the top floor is a 360 degree panoramic bar. This is where we ended our day with a nice dinner, a very good live music band, and the best view over Dublin while the sun was setting. Perfect.
