to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

Roger Raveel in concrete

A constant in Roger Raveel's work is the use of mirrors in his paintings and assemblages.  So is the image of the typical concrete walls in gardens throughout Belgium.  Third : silhouettes of people.

Roger Raveel - Man op rugzijde (Man from the back) - 1952 - detail

Behind the museum dedicated to Roger Raveel's work is an installation where the three are united.

dot dot dot

A visit to the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris is a breathtaking experience.  Gorgeous space with outstanding collections of ethnic art.

A few details of Aboriginal Art, I simply love the earthy warm colours and the 'simplicity' of the painting technique.

Truc Troc - the post-it notes art fair

The 8th edition of the exchange Fair Truc Troc starts tonight.
Dozens of artists exhibit works at the BOZAR in Brussels and visitors can make offers (no money) to acquire them.
A fun event to attend in a very laid back atmosphere, especially at the end when reading the exchange offers is quite entertaining.

Haus der Kunst - Munich

A museum build by Nazis to glorify German Art.

Open to international modern art in present times.

Chinese artist Ai Weiwei - a call for release

It is lunch time, the back side of the museum has a very large terrace with a café.  The seats in the picture are for a night event at the museum.

I'm heading to the Goldene Bar for a nice lunch.  I have the impression the chairs might be original from the time this was built.  I didn't ask.

Part of the Golden Bar inside which is ... very golden.  All four walls + the ceiling.

Even the modern lounge area glows in a golden light.  But the weather is too nice to sit inside.

And while I'm waiting for my food ...

I discover unusual features...

Don't have pictures of the exhibitions, photographing wasn't allowed.

Museum Brandhorst - Munich

I made a mistake and realized it too late... my camera was set on 'miniature' blurring the outer edges of the picture.  Well, it looks fun, so here are a few more.

The buiding, dating from 2008, is covered in 36.000 ceramic rods in 23 different coloured glazes.

Inside.  Large airy spaces.

Large collections of Andy Warhol...
