to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

De Werktank - factory for new and old media art

During the 'Kunstroute Bierbeek' art tour we get to see what is happening in an old milk factory.  The great space has become the creative work space to a few artists.

Impressive light sculptures against the ceiling,  A wire sculpture against the wall... but these are not part of the art tour itself.

Wim Jansen - Static
A few months ago I saw this intriguing piece at another art event.  This time I tried to capture the movement in a very short video :

Ief Spincemaille - Behind The Horizon

"I am sitting on the beach and I keep a yardstick in front of me, parallel with the horizon. They say that the Earth is round and I want to verify if this is true. But my yardstick appears to be too short or the earth not round enough."

Starting from a childhood memory, Behind The Horizon wants to visualize the bending of the Earth. It is an attempt to look behind the horizon. Not with a yardstick, but with a huge tube with a length of 10.832 km. This tube was carried by 310 volunteers at the Belgian Coast on the 14th of May 2010. The middle of this tube is resting on the ground. Five km to the left and 5 km to the right of this center point, the tube is already 229 cm removed from the earth's surface. A straight tube hanging above a convex Earth. A clearly visible and comprehensible image of the bending of the Earth.

Tinguely's gigantic kinetic toy

This assemblage sculpture is really gigantic.  One pushes a red button to start the engine, and walks up the stairs to get in the centre of the moving elements.

Jean Tinguely - kinetic art - part 1

museum Tinguely in Basel is a must for lovers of the unusual and of kinetic art. The place is stacked with moving sculptures that rattle, shake, blink, move, squeak, ....
Most of the sculptures are on hold until a red button is pushed to start the movement ... and the noises.
For those who can't stand squeaking sounds I recommend to turn the volume down.

in the last video I focused on the shadow play, just as interesting as the work itself.

the complete explanation about the work is on their site, look at works, look at Krachtgever; it is a bit long to copy.

kinetic art - Anton Cotteleer

'the sculptures of Cotteleer are unique in their kind, and reflect a state of alienation of daily reality'
I just laughed out loud when I saw this rug wagging its tail, looked at it numerous times. Seen at the same exhibition. Just need more time to explain more about that.

the sculpture is walking - Julian Opie - part 2

I got a second opportunity to shoot the walking figures. The plane we needed to catch yesterday night was cancelled, we had to stay another night. So going to the city we passed them again, and this is one of the moving light sculptures on O'Connell Street - Dublin, by Julian Opie.
I was told that the artist picked people from the street because of the way they moved. He filmed them and changed it into this moving figure.

I've got a problem here, I can't edit this video (first time I ever do this). How do I get this in the upright position? and can I remove the sound? it seems like this should be easy, but I can't find it.
HELP
