to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

François Huon - Quarantaine (en)

"The work closes a territory centered by a pedestal, which instead of presenting a decorative vase, evokes the closed vase, preventing any communication. The twenty sleeping split squares lie flat on the pillar, with the same drawings as the fences : open, erected and watchful squares."

Bernard Villers - Table(au) de jardin

"Coffee tables stand on the grass, on bare ground, on crushed brick, on dead leaves. Their tops are in bright colours, lacquered and with a large round hole in the middle, framing a part of the ground...

... bits of nature meeting bits of paint. Confrontation of two palettes : the natural one and the chemical one. A kind of garden marking out. We go from one place to another, from table to table, from one colour to another, at the mercy of the winds."

Fred Périé - Infractions

"A red liquid seems to have been shed in an isolated bush, leaving traces. What happened? And why are we here? And there we are, inevitably in breach of the laws that we attributed to nature!"

Krijn De Koning - the Gravity Museum

The ruins of the medieval Abby of the site make a perfect contrast with Krijn De Konings' (NL) "Gravity Museum"

On arrival it was cloudy and grey.

But once we entered the sculpture, built over part of the ruins, the sun joined us and this made the whole difference.

The bright colours start to reflect on opposite walls and shadows add an extra dimension.

I could spend hours here and watch the play of light and shadow as the sun moves and the intensity of the light changes.

Definitely a site to visit when the sun is shining.

meanwhile in my studio ...

... I'm getting in the Wood Mood

Work in progress.
After the plastic period with the latest Good Mood Lights last year and the stacked ceramic sculptures Honderdwater last winter it is time for a wood period. So I'm covered in saw and sanding dust, and have a soft carpet of shavings on the floor of my studio.

Still in the trial and error phase, many ideas in my head that need some time to become reality.
