to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

Current - Eline 't Sant

No matter in what environment Eline's installations are placed, they're always powerful and captivating.  They are engaging a new dialogue in a different setting.

This time the location is overpowering, litterally... the powerstation a the closed coalmine.  Flooding with light one first discovers the monumental engines.  It takes some time to find the almost hidden artworks.

Marc Janssens - sculptures

Marc Janssens' mixed-media sculptures never cease to amaze me since I first saw a few of them some 5 years ago in a gallery.  The sculptures always seem to have the same expression and yet they are so full of emotions.
But I've never seen them in a setting just so right.  I imagine the large engines of the power station coming to life at night to create these robust but fragile beauties.

art in the coalmine...

...in the power station of the coalmine to be precise

Impressive setting, it takes some courage from artists to exhibit in this overwhelming place.  The engines draw a lot of attention, industrial sculptures...  The picture shows only part of the huge space.
20 artists have picked up the challenge

The work of sculptor Marc Janssens seems to have emerged from the engines itself.
I'll have an entire post on that later.
