to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

A great little shop to discover

The two exhibiting artists and Jan Vander Elst are participating in the Open studio tour in Leuven April 30 and May 1.  More info on http://www.kunstroute-leuven.be/.
(I'm skipping my participation this year too, my situation is a bit too chaotic just now to have visitors in my studio).

Tinguely's gigantic kinetic toy

This assemblage sculpture is really gigantic.  One pushes a red button to start the engine, and walks up the stairs to get in the centre of the moving elements.

Zjos Meyvis - fertilisation engines

One of my favorite artists ... I simply love these poetic engines.

apparaat om de lucht te kleuren - engine to colour the air *

draagbare stuifmeelverspreider - portable pollen spreader *

zuurstofrecuperator - oxygen recuperator *

* I did not find the english translation of the artworks by the artist, I took the liberty of translating them myself as the title adds poetry to the objects. My apologies if it is not done accurately.

Annette Besgen & François du Plessis

"Pas de deux"
galerie freitag 18.30
03.09.2010 - 23.10.2010

I am somewhat addicted to shadows, I'll stop regularly to try to capture these ever changing wondrous creatures with my tiny camera.  Apparently I'm not the only one with this addiction.

Painter Annette Besgen shows a nice selection of oil paintings with shadows in the star role.
François du Plessis exhibits his latest creations made from ART magazines and books.

An impression of yesterday's opening of the exhibition.

inGewikkeld - part 1

"The art project 'InGewikkeld' aims at elaborating the two meanings of the Dutch term 'InGewikkeld'.  Firstly, it litterally refers to 'wrapping': enclosing an object in some sort of material.  Secondly, though, it also means 'complicated, difficult'.  Is there a more popular term to describe contemporary art?"

Anish Kapoor - Double

The former Poor Clares convent was a closed cloister with an open parish church (this explains why so many rooms have bars and hatches in the walls, nuns were kept from the outside world).
