to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

will be back on monday

setting up

The location of the art tour is quite a special one. Set in the former farm of a colony that housed thousands of vagabonds and homeless people.
After waiting for several hours to get the electricity connected, we could finally start the set up. Before leaving I had to cover all the pieces as there is an awful lot of dust and dirt from years and years in this former potato-cellar. The room wasn't cleaned as promised and doing it the same day as the set up would only cause the dust flying around everywhere and settle on the lights later.
When hundreds of people will walk through this room, the problem remains. I'm desperate.

hmmm ... I quite like it this way too

ready to move

7 free standing and 6 hanging lights all packed

5 wall panel lights with custom build boxes for transport

and a last minute idea, still not sure if it will work - the electric parts work but I'm talking about the set up. it has to illuminate someone else's work that I have never seen, this is a wild guess. anyway, I already found a good use for it after the exhibition; some minor adaptation and it will be just what I want.
and what about the potatoes ... no I have not forgotten ... I also have to wait to see if it was useful.

fascinating sculptures - Fred Martin

L'échange
The exchange
"Two sculptures made with raw clay
Two faces truncated
Just remain their mouth and their nose
A face to face of giants
In which the visitor can become witness, peeping tom and why not entremetteur
A transfer occurs, a question arises:
What will these two entities give birth to?"

The indoor exhibition at the Couleur Café music festival with fascinating works. I especially liked this set up, the back sides were simply loose straw and a few wooden boards. I would have loved to see the artist at work.

update : Fred Martin has added a funny video showing the de-construction of the sculptures

in the background of the first picture a work from Mo Ramakers : Blauwhelmen II (Blue Berets)

and what about the potatoes ...... wait and see ...... they will be useful

fun sculptures

Every year I'm looking forward to the world music festival Couleur Café in Brussels, and the first thing I look for are the fun sculptures. Very tall, they mark different zones as there are many different areas.
these were revolving sculptures and the sun created very nice effects of shadows and reflections at the same time

and these two giants at the entrance of the market area
