to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

barn - before and after

Let me show you what we've been doing these lasts months. Part of it, we've been working on many things.

Our barn as it used to be...

and last week during the art tour Kunst op het Hof...

wooden assemblages and found art by hildA de schutter

the large space of the barn in the not so distant past...

more specifications on artworks in the next posts

We had over 1500 visitors over three days during the art tour Kunst op het Hof, it was worth all the work.

I will be posting regularly again from now on, I first need to sort hundreds of pictures...
I'm glad to be back

Arbus Reïnc at Kunst op het Hof

Finally...
time to reveal why this blog has been sleeping so long

We - painter Clemens Maassen from Maastricht, Netherlands and myself, hildA de schutter - have been 'planting' a tree in the orchard.  Made with reclaimed wood from the barn it honors the fallen old apple tree, victim of last year's summer storm, but still 'alive and kicking'.

We've been very busy clearing and repairing the barn and stables to welcome artists at our location during the three days of the art tour.

Bodys Isek Kingelez at Oiron

I'm working on new projects for an upcoming art tour I will talk about very soon.
The theme of the tour is fragility, subtheme on our location is urbanisation.  The difficult and fragile balance between cities and rural countryside.

I'm finding great inspiration in this...
my apologies for the very bad pictures shot in a tiny and dark servants' room in the grand Oiron Castle

the narrow corridor to the servants' quarters

Bodys Isek Kingelez - Paris Nouvelle - 1989

Bodys Isek Kingelez - Italie - 1989

The artist builds models of fantastic cities in cardboard.  Fun and playful, I'd love to be able to wander through his joyful universe.

Roger Raveel in concrete

A constant in Roger Raveel's work is the use of mirrors in his paintings and assemblages.  So is the image of the typical concrete walls in gardens throughout Belgium.  Third : silhouettes of people.

Behind the museum dedicated to Roger Raveel's work is an installation where the three are united.

Jetske Verhoeven at Verbeke Foundation

Wooden orange crates, I've been collecting them for quite some time now for making small furniture.
Jetske Verhoeven (NL) has larger projects.

She used 730 orange crates to build this cabin together with architect Alexander Lefebvre.

quite inspiring, it's giving me new ideas for the upcoming art event in our barn and orchard
