to the artists, designers and craftspeople who think I call their work kitsch... this is NOT the case, it refers to my own work

les Fêtes de la Saint-Martin revisited

It' a misty and quiet Sunday, the first day that we actually feel the autumn.

We're off to go on an art tour through tiny, old villages and some cross country driving.
It's been three years since we went on this art tour for the last time.

Djack
The fog persists all day long, I quite enjoy the feeling of changing seasons.  The smell of wood burning stoves.

Artworks are scattered over different villages, private homes and gardens and a few impressive centuries old farmhouses.

armistice day

11.11.11
Rememberance Day or Veterans day
at 11o'clock on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 the guns stopped firing, the First World War came to an end.
Thousands of graves in military cemetaries, overwhelming sad places.
I remembered them when I saw the garden of Extinct Plants at Chaumont-sur-Loire last September.

Jan Marechal - fun ceramics revisited

We bumped into budding ceramic artist Jan Marechal by accident a few years ago in his pop-up studio in Hasselt - Belgium.  I was happy to see more of his work last September during the art event Alternate Current.

Cabanes - Aeneas Wilder

Aeneas Wilder - Untitled #153
the fourth dome shaped structure we've seen from this artist, all of them different

let's explore it a bit closer

one can't enter this installation

it is built over a pond

I simply love the fact that it looks twice as big this way

I just wish I could have seen it when the sun is shining and see the shadowplay but then this might ruin the perfect reflection

This installation is totally different than the ones I've seen before

Le Palais des Cheminées Idéales

After a sunny, warm and gorgeous indian summer the first chilly wind and drizzle makes one long for a nice and cozy fire.
Just the time to show some pictures of 'The Palace of Ideal Chimneys', a funky and crazy installation.

entirely set up with waste material

a swivelling hearth and chimney in the centre of the room (I didn't know I could move it until we were gone)

the next room, a crazy kitchen

a bedroom that will keep out the icy winds

the sanitary installation

I simply can't keep my eyes from the stunning effect in the first room

the old walls with flaking paint and plaster and stripped wall paper are breathtaking

can't get enough of it
